Fremantle aka Freo

After our canoe / cave / grub adventures we drove up to Fremantle, also known as Freo, a sleepy port town known for a ton of shipwrecks, prison for convicts, and cappuccino. We've been visiting a lot of sleepy towns haha - which is probably why we've been sleeping at 8pm and waking up at 5am every day. Haha. We're such grannies! We had fish'n'chips for dinner...

And stopped by a pub to taste the insane list of micro brews!

Jason - I wanted to pick up some of these posters for you, but they werent on sale! :( Crazy tidbit: 6-pack of beer in Australia is $19!! Yikes.

The next morning, we had brunch at Little Creatures, a local brewery.

Man, I love beets! Australia is where my love for beets began... :)

And we planned our day to follow a walking tour of the town and their major historical sites. A tour meant to take 2-4 hrs took umm 45 mins. Haha.

This little town was so well manicured and minimally inhabited. So much so that it looked almost like a movie set and it was rainy so was kinda spooky. Haha.

At the scary prison, we got caught in the rain. So we hung out in their visitors gallery listening to scary haunted music for a good 20 minutes until we were saved by a taxi passing by. Phew!

7x5 cells and solitary confinement from 1-6 months! Until it was limited to 28 days in 1886 or something bc people would go crazy... The scariest part about this horrible prison with all it's public lashings and maggots in their food and convict riots was that it was up and running until 1991!
